After spending over twenty years together in her father's butchery on Federal Hill, in Providence RI , Tom and Rozann Buckner closed the butchery in 1993 to make way for the all new L`Epicureo Ristorante.  Extensive remodeling ensued and L`Epicureo opened its doors to the public in January 1994. 

Operating an upscale Italian restaurant as chef owners, the Buckners soon became known for mixing classic cuisine with a contemporary flair. By November of its first year, L`Epicureo had received national attention in "Esquire Magazine" when it was voted one of the "best new restaurants of the year" by John Mariani.  Also in 1994 accolades about the food and ambiance from the Providence Journal, The New York Times and local publications were framed and displayed with honor on the Claret colored walls of the main entrance. 

In February 1996, L`Epicureo was featured in a "Bon Appetit" article highlighting Providence restaurants.  Also in 1996 "The New England Travel Guide" voted L`Epicureo as the "Best Italian Restaurant in Rhode Island ".  L'Epicureo's popularity soared.

With space constraints becoming an issue, Tom & Rozann began their quest for a larger space while at the same time wanting to remain in Providence , the Renaissance City

.  L`Epicureo opened at the new Hotel Providence in February 2005 and did not loose a step.  After being open for only five months, L`Epicureo received the coveted four diamond award from AAA and retained this and other awards until the sale of L’Epicureo to the owners of the Hotel Providence in April of 2008.

Within one day of the sale of L’Epicureo, the buzz was about that Tom & Rozann were taking a small break from cooking.  That did not last very long!  They were contacted by the Italo American Club just days after the sale of L’Epicureo was completed.  One look at the beautiful mansion and its facilities and the Buckners were hooked and decided to open the Troup House Restaurant.

The Troup House Restaurant is available for all private parties and functions.  Whether an intimate party for 6 or a larger party of 80, we are ready, willing and able to accomodate you ensuring a memorable event.  Remember the Italo Club and Troup House Restaurant are open to the public all year!

Here at the Troup house Restaurant we love to cook.  Check out this section for special events and specialty menu items.  For example, we may list a limited availability for 2 1/2 lb. lobsters baked stuffed on a certain day of the week.  You can order with your reservations!  How neat!!
